Workers for construction projects are not hired by Enbridge, but by Global Pipeline Partners, LLC, a partnership of experienced pipeline construction contractors working for Enbridge, and through union halls. There are several types of workers needed during this construction project, including:

Enbridge has an upcoming pipeline construction project in Minnesota. Individuals who are looking for pipeline construction employment can obtain more information through the appropriate union halls in Minnesota. Due to current economic conditions, however, please note that some unions are not taking new members.
Perform the "hands-on" pipeline activities, such as the installation/removal of environmental control devices (silt fences, straw bales, erosion control matting, etc.), skid placement/removal, sandblasting, pipeline coating, assisting with pipe loading/unloading activities, hand tool use, removal of construction debris from the work areas.

Responsible for driving, transporting and delivering personnel, materials and equipment for the project with company-supplied vehicles. Each driver must be qualified and licensed (CDL) to operate vehicles, such as one-ton pickups, passenger buses, dump trucks, water trucks, fuel trucks, tractor trailer and lowboy tractor trailers.

Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of heavy equipment, such as excavators, bull dozers, pipe layers, cranes, forklifts, farm tractors, generators, compressors, and pumps on the project. Also, the operator is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the equipment for wear and maintenance throughout the project.

Welders are responsible for welding the project pipe together for various needs, such as road bores, directional drills, pipe gang, firing line, and testing and tie-ins.
Welder helpers are assistants to the welder. They prepare all pipe ends to be welded with buffing being the most common method. The helpers also maintain a clean welding area during the weld process, again by buffing and, in some cases, grinding the weld metal pass made by their welder.
